Thomas B. Saville
Fitness Professional and Certified Cancer Exercise Specialist
Certified Cancer Exercise Specialist
Anyone who has had cancer or knows a family member or friend who has had cancer knows that each individual’s journey is unique. The type of cancer, the age at which a person is diagnosed, and their treatment are just a few things that set us each apart. The goal of a Cancer Exercise Specialist is to work with each client individually to improve their overall health through exercise. Goals could include improving overall strength and flexibility, correcting muscle imbalances, increasing range of motion, improving balance and reducing overall pain and fatigue. By designing, teaching, and implementing personalized programs and being compassionate, and understanding during the journey, I hope to make my clients’ path a little easier.

After spending the first thirty plus years of my working life in the banking and finance world, I decided to hang up my pencil, put away my calculator, and pursue my real passion: Fitness. I participated in athletics right up through the college level and once I entered the real world of 9-5 employment I knew I needed something else to expend my energy on, so I took up long distance bike riding and triathlons. The years passed and I had the opportunity to join a great team of friends who were creating a new type of fitness facility in 2018. I decided to obtain my Personal Training Certification with a concentration in helping cancer recovery patients. I had watched my Dad battle cancer several times in his life beginning at the age of 47 and I wanted to give back to that community in some small way. In an ironic twist of fate, while studying for my certification, I myself was diagnosed with stage II lymphoma. After a few months of radiation therapy I received a clean bill of health and am now a cancer survivor. In a strange way it felt right to now be part of a select group that I was trying to help. I look forward to many years of helping people develop the physical tools to keep this disease at bay.

My belief is that daily overall care of the body portrays a positive, healthier lifestyle for your physical and mental health. Proper hydration, nutrition, exercise, stretching and sleep are the five main components for achieving this lifestyle. To accomplish your goals you must have a positive mental attitude, a desire to make these lifestyle changes and a knowledgable personal trainer to assist you. The more effort you put in is a direct reflection of the results you will achieve!
Hardwork, consistency and a positive mindset are the tools required to chisel out your new body; while determination, perseverance, and willpower are the materials needed to complete your project. My job is to help provide a reliable direction for positive reinforcement of your workout regimen and help you to succeed in your goals!

I was born on October 27th 1998 in Boston MA. In 2004, I began studying martial arts at Nick Cerio’s Kenpo Jujitsu Karate under the tutelage of Joey Smith. I fell in love with the practice immediately and have been studying ever since. I received my first black belt (Shodan) in January 2010. It was a very big moment and allowed me to truly embrace my passion. I am also part of the competition team which participates in multiple tournaments a year. I have been part of the the team for over 10 years and served as captain for a year before becoming a coach. I am currently a sensei (teacher) and teach several classes a week, as well as conduct private lessons for individual students. I attend Bridgewater State University where I am majoring in Health Science with a concentration in Anatomy and Kinesiology. I am also pursuing a minor in History. I plan on continuing my martial arts study throughout my life.
